Please don’t press delete

Brené Brown noted in her book, ‘The Gifts of Imperfection’ that “authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It’s about the choice to show up and be real.”

After a fraught, VUCA year which has tested our resolve and patience, it’s all too easy to mentally delete the experiences from our ‘hard drive’. In blind hope, we set our sights on next year as the time ‘we returned to normal’. Yeah, right.

What does this mean for leadership?

Authentic reflection gives us the chance to be real, gain insight and make conscious choices. In the downtime of much-needed festivities, ask yourself this question: ‘What am I truly grateful for and why?’

The answers might well provide meaning, bring some closure and put a spring in your step for 2021.

Thank you so much for reading our weekly Bleets in 2020. We will be taking some of our own time for reflection and regeneration but will return with vigour to deliver more leadership insights in 2021. Happy holiday wishes to you all.
