Leading and developing your team, moving them from average to high performing, making sure individuals are thriving. It’s quite a challenge, isn’t it? So where do you start?
It’s a good question and it’s one of the reasons we love the simplicity of the three Cs:
- Clarity: does your team understand what’s happening and what’s expected of them – individually and collectively? Have you put the team’s priorities and goals into context?
- Climate: Has there been a strategic shift thanks to Covid or other pressures? Are there budget and headcount challenges ahead? Has the way we work together as a team changed? Does it need to? What’s happening culturally?
- Competence: are there any skills gaps and training opportunities the team needs or wants? And are we displaying the behaviours that will set us up for success?
When the working landscape is shifting it’s sometimes easier to focus on the day-to-day. But we recommend taking time to make sure your foundations are in place and as strong as possible.
