More than ever, we believe in helping people to build high-performing teams with strong foundations. We also believe that leadership belongs in the hands of the many, not a select few. We call it democratising leadership.

It’s how we believe organisations will grow and achieve their goals, whether that’s bringing new products to market, adapting to changing circumstances or sustaining year after year growth.

Simplifying complex concepts

But we also know that a quick Google search on ‘teams’ or ‘leadership’ will throw up a gazillion results. So, we’re making it our mission to simplify the often complex and ever-changing world of teams and leadership to make your life easier.

From Bleets to Blogs

If you’ve been receiving our Bleets for a while you’ll spot a name change and a fresh look. The content though remains firmly focused on teams, leadership and helping you to see the bigger picture. We might just give ourselves more than the 140 words to do it in though.

If you’re already signed-up to receive our emails, you don’t need to do anything else. If you’re new to this blog and LIW, welcome! If you want to stay connected, sign-up in the footer below so that you don’t miss anything.

In fact, if you sign up now, you’ll be just in time to catch our latest research paper carried out with the London School of Economics. It’s on the teams of teams model and we’ll be sharing our thoughts on the research findings in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we’ll take you back to November and our webinar on how you can build a resilient, high-performing team.

How to build a high-performing team in five-steps: webinar recap

It’s amazing how much ground you can cover in 40 minutes. We loved having the chance to talk about our five-step Team Acceleration framework – a framework that helps clients to build a high performing team – in our November webinar. Judging from the feedback and questions on the day – people watching and listening got a lot out of it too.

Don’t worry if you missed it though, get in touch and we’ll send you’re a recording and a simple one-page summary. Or stay tuned because we’ll be exploring some of the key themes in our weekly blogs. Here’s a taster of some of the themes we cover, starting with one of our favourite quotes.

‘We can’t control the wind, but we can direct the sails’

  • Teams are here to stay – they are a constant in a complex and dynamic world
  • Give people context and helping them to understand what’s in it for them. Then align behind the wider team and organisational strategy and goals
  • What’s the data telling you: perception v reality. How well is your team performing?
  • You can build a great team and get the work done at the same time. You don’t have to wait until the end of the process to see results.

If you joined us for the webinar, we’d love to hear from you. A few weeks down the line, what are the messages that have stayed with you? What landed and resonated with your current situation?

We’ve covered a lot more than usual in this week’s blog, thanks for reading and we’ll be back next week for more bite sized, pragmatic thoughts on leadership.
